Campus and community resources can help!

Campus & Community Resources

UC Berkeley Food Pantry

Open to all students, postdocs, and visiting scholars. Located on campus at #68 Stiles Hall in MLK Student Union on the basement floor, you or your family member can come with your Cal ID to get five pantry items, and sometimes a CSA produce bag and other perishables.

CalFresh Clinics

CalFresh is a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that provides assistance for households to purchase nutritious food. The program uses an easy credit card format to purchase food at retail stores and farmers markets. There are sign-up help clinics offered on campus.

Alameda County Community Food Bank

The Alameda County Community Food Bank is a one-stop resource to connect you to a bag of groceries or a hot meal.

Financial Aid Office Food Assistance Program

A short-term assistance program for undergraduate and graduate students on financial aid.

Village Resources

SPARR Food Donations

SPARR (Student Parent Association for Recruitment and Retention) is an organization of UC Berkeley student parents who are dedicated to providing access to higher education for under-served, nontraditional and underrepresented students. SPARR provides groceries from local supermarkets such as Whole Foods to families in front of the Community Center. First-time beneficiaries are asked to bring a copy of their rental agreement to verify the presence of dependents in their home. Student parents may join the SPARR facebook page to receive additional information about ad hoc food distributions as they occur.

Current Food Donation Schedule:

  • M/W/Sat/Sun: Food is dropped off in front of the Community Center 9:30-10:30AM
  • Tu: Food is dropped off in front of the Community Center 9-9:30AM

There is no priority given to student parents or early birds–residents who are on-site when the food is delivered draw a ticket to know when their turn is for their first round. They may line up again for subsequent rounds. Please email coordinators Amber Benton and Corena Longland with any questions.

Nature Village Imperfect Produce CSA Box

Nature Village has partnered with Imperfect Produce to offer a drop-off point at the Community Center for residents on Saturday mornings. By ordering your produce box to the drop-off point (and not your door) you can avoid the $3 weekly delivery fee. Pick-ups are between 8:30-9AM on Saturdays for the summer, and 9:30-10:30AM otherwise. To sign up for free delivery, email with the CSA box option you want. You will also be subscribed to our Imperfect Produce email list to receive announcements regarding drop-offs.
